Digital picture frames with a USB interface make it simple to display pictures stored on your computer or in a USB flash drive. Just plug the frame into a cable to the USB port on your computer or plug a USB flash drive directly into the digital frame's USB port and you can transfer images directly to and from your digital frame.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING DIGITAL FRAMES WITH USB INTERFACES: USB interfaces can be confusing on digital picture frames because "USB" can refer to a directly readable memory format, an electronic interface or both.

• If your digital picture frame uses the term “USB” in the same context as other types of supported directly recorded media like “Compact Flash” (CF) or “Secure Digital” (SD) it means that your digital picture frame can read and display images directly from a USB flash drive (also called a "USB memory stick") with no other external interface. You just plug in the flash drive, turn on the frame and the frame can read and display images (usually in JPG format) directly from the flash drive. This has the advantage of requiring no internal memory on the digital picture frame so the number and size of images is determined by the capacity of the flash drive. This interface will have a USB Type "A" receptacle interface which is almost universal due to the wide acceptance of USB flash drives..

• If your digital picture frame uses the term “USB” as a supported external interface like "Wireless" or "Blue Tooth" it means that your digital picture frame can be connected to your computer using a USB interface cable where it will then appear as an external USB memory device. You will then be able to transfer images from your computer and store them directly in the digital frame's internal memory. The number and size of images will then be determined by the capacity of your digital picture frame's internal memory. This interface will have a USB Type "B" receptacle connector. However, since there are several different USB Type B connector formats, the digital frame should include a matching cable that will allow you to connect the frame to your computer.

• Many digital picture frames support both types of USB interface and auto-detect whether a flash drive or a computer interface cable is plugged into the frame.
